By Simi Valley Historical Society (other events)

2 Dates Through Feb 03, 2019

ABOUT ABOUT

Civil War re-enactments are very popular and are enjoyed by many. During times when a re-enactment is not scheduled, the “troops” like to stay on top of things. They do this by camping out, drilling, and sharing information and knowledge with the public. This effort is known as “Living History.”

  • Meet President Abraham Lincoln, General Ulysses S. Grant and General Robert E. Lee
  • Living History Demonstrations in the Civilian Camp of Middleton
  • Blacksmith demonstration
  • Skirmishes
  • Big Cannon
  • Drum and Fife band performances
  • Food for sale from Ventura BBQ Co. and Cocteles La Princesa
  • Join the ranks!  Kids needed for special Recruit Training Program
  • Horses
  • Interview a soldier
  • Witness the Gettysburg address
  • Witness the surrender at Appomattox
  • Historic buildings open for tours at 12pm each day
  • Civil War Era Women's Clothes Demonstration – Saturday only

The re-enactors will be showing everyone about the soldiers’ way of life throughout the day; pitching tents, cooking, cleaning & firing muskets and pistols, and telling their stories. Though this is not a "re-enactment" such as the event in Moorpark, a skirmish or two have been known to break out!

Please join us on Saturday, February 2nd, 10am-4pm & Sunday, February 3rd, 10am-3pm

Advanced tickets available: $5 for adults, $3 for children from 5 to 12, under 5 free.  Prices at the gate are: $7 for adults, $3 for children from 5 to 12, under 5 free. $5 for active and retired military with ID
