Civil War re-enactments are very popular and are enjoyed by many. During times when a re-enactment is not scheduled, the “troops” like to stay on top of things. They do this by camping out, drilling, and sharing information and knowledge with the public. This effort is known as “Living History.”
- Meet Ulysses S. Grant
- Meet Abraham Lincoln
- Demonstrations
- Skirmishes
- Big Cannon!
- Colonial band performances
- Dancing
- Food vendors
- Join the ranks! Kids needed for special Recruit Training Program
- Horses!
- Interview a soldier
- Witness the Gettysburg address
- Witness the surrender at Appomattox
The re-enactors will be showing everyone about the soldiers’ way of life throughout the day; pitching tents, cooking, cleaning & firing muskets and pistols, and telling their stories. Though this is not a "re-enactment" such as the event in Moorpark in November, a skirmish or two have been known to break out!
